Marcos Moreno & Brian Landaverde players of the Week

Posted Thursday, July 17, 2008 by Fohi Manager
When Coach Edgard looked at this year's Summer League Schedule, he wondered how well his team would do against such tough teams. He is proud to see how well Marcos Moreno and Brian Landaverde have defended the Steelers' goal box. They get along on and off the field, the talented Keepers share the net, each plays a half, and the pair has combined favorably for the Steelers. In the past six games, the pair has shutout four teams, and has only allowed two goals in as many games.

Brian Landaverde is a Sophmore entering his second year on Varsity. "He is a composed keeper with a big future in the program," Adds Coach Edgard. Brian is an excellent student athlete, he is on the honor roll and has big plans for college.

Marcos Moreno is a Junior, he is entering his third year playing Varsity. "Marcos brings leadership, and energy to the defensive line. He is outspoken, and a key member of our program," said Coach Edgard. Marcos' goal for the year is to lead the Steelers back to the Playoffs, and overcome last year's 1st round exit.

Part of theGoalkeeper's success should be credited to the Steeler Defense They have done a good job silencing their opponent's forwards. Either way, Marcos' and Brian's numbers are impressive and have earned them 'Players of the Week" for 7/1-7/16. The steelers will need the same type of numbers if they are to capture a back to back Summer League Championship.

Keep up the good work Marcos and Brian.
